Pratibha Jain Partner, Nishith Desai Associates


Shri S. Raman had joined SEBI as Whole Time Member in December, 2012. He oversees the portfolios of Investment Management which Ms. Pratibha Jain is Partner and also the Head of the Delhi office of Nishith Desai Associates. She heads the Banking and Finance and regulatory practice at NDA. Ms. Jain brings with her a breadth of international and Indian experience having worked in New York, Tokyo, Hong Kong and Mumbai. Previously, she was Vice President and Counsel for Goldman Sachs, associate with Sullivan & Cromwell LLP in their New York, Tokyo and Hong Kong offices and with Skadden Arps Slate Meagher and Flom LLP in their Hong Kong office.

Ms. Jain's educational qualifications include B.A (Economics) Hons. and LL.B. degree from Delhi University, a Bachelor of Civil Law degree from the University of Oxford, where she was a St. Catherine's College Bursary Holder; and a LL.M. degree from the Harvard Law School, where she was a Samuel Morse Lane Fellow

Her areas of focus include private equity investments, fund formation, banking and finance and corporate and regulatory advisory. Her client list includes marquee corporate and private equity clients including, Amazon, Flipkart, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, JP Morgan Chase, Deutsche Bank, Deutsche Boerse, Norwest Venture Partners, General Atlantic, SAIF Partners, Everstone Capital, Bombay Stock Exchange, Ministry of Finance.

She has worked on some of the most challenging projects in financial services and regulatory sector, including representing investors in restructuring of 1200 MW hydro power project, representing the largest FDI investment in infrastructure sector, representing investors in multiple acquisitions and restructuring investments to facilitate exits, representing investors for facilitating listing of stock exchanges in India, representing underwriter’s for listing of Bombay Stock Exchange, representing one of the leading e-commerce companies in investigation by the Enforcement Directorate, representing Ministry of Finance for structuring of India’s first sovereign wealth fund with proposed corpus of over 6 billion dollars etc, advising Ministry of Commerce on their policy on Bilateral Investment Treaties etc.
